Narrated `Aisha:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said “Gabriel continued to recommend me about treating the neighbors Kindly and politely so much so that I thought he would order me to make them as my heirs (Sahih Bukhari).

    1. Surah 5:51 says “allies”, not friends. This is talking about allying ourselves with non-Muslims rather than Muslims. This is clarified by Surah 60:8-9:

      “60:8-9 – Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.  Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.”

      Surah 9 also says “allies”. But showing kindness to non-believing relatives is enjoined. See Surah 29:8

      “29:8 – We have enjoined on man kindness to parents: but if they (either of them) strive (to force) thee to join with Me (in worship) anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Ye have (all) to return to me, and I will tell you (the truth) of all that ye did.”

      “Abdullah bin Amr had a sheep slaughtered for his family, so when he came he said: ‘Have you given some to our neighbor, the Jew? Have you given some to our neighbor, the Jew? I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: ‘Jibril continued to advise me about (treating) the neighbors so (kindly and politely), that I thought he would order me (from Allah) to make them heirs.”

        Weak hadiths have a defect in some way which reduces the confidence in their authenticity. But using weak hadiths to make rulings is generally accepted.

      8. Abu Dawud was a great scholar who meticulously mentioned if a Hadith was weak himself!

        “Abu Dawood compiled twenty-one books related to Hadith and preferred those ahadith which were supported by the example of the companions of Muhammad. As for the contradictory ahadith, he states under the heading of ‘Meat acquired by hunting for a pilgrim’: “if there are two contradictory reports from the Prophet (SAW), an investigation should be made to establish what his companions have adopted”. He wrote in his letter to the people of Mecca “I have disclosed wherever there was too much weakness in regard to any tradition in my collection. But if I happen to leave a Hadith without any comment, it should be considered as sound, albeit some of them are more authentic than others”. Hadith Mursal (a tradition in which a companion is omitted and a successor narrates directly from Muhammad) has also been a matter of discussion among the traditionists. Abu Dawood states in his letter to the people of Mecca: “if a Musnad Hadith (uninterrupted tradition) is not contrary to a Mursal or a Musnad Hadith is not found, then the Mursal Hadith will be accepted though it would not be considered as strong as a Muttasil Hadith (uninterrupted chain).”

        “It is not permissible in Islam to rely on weak ahaadeeth that are neither saheeh nor hasan, but Ahmad ibn Hanbal and other scholars regarded it is permissible to narrate reports concerning righteous deeds which are not known to be proven, so long as they are not known to be lies, on the basis that if an action is known to be prescribed in Islam from shar’i evidence, and there is a hadeeth which is not known to be a lie, it is possible that the reward referred to in that weak hadeeth may be true. None of the imams said that it is permissible to regard something as obligatory or mustahabb on the basis of a weak hadeeth; whoever says that is going against scholarly consensus. It is permissible to narrate reports that are not known to be lies in order to encourage and warn people, but only with regard to matters where it is known that Allaah has encouraged or warned against them on the basis of other evidence the status of whose narrators is not unknown.”

      32. Yes Ibn Tamiyya is great scholar but he quotes Abu Daud. So Ibn Tamiyya agrees with me son of Muta. Go sniff Muhammad arsehole. Hamza Yusuf agrees with me Ibn Tamiyya agrees with me and Abu Daud is authentic. So there is no weak or daeef hadith. All are same. Great. Ibn Tamiyya will never say Abu Daud is weak.         Abu Dawud was a great scholar too moron. But as I showed, his Sunan does have some weak hadiths. And as Ibn Taymiyyah explained, Muslims are not obligated to follow such hadith. Here is what Ibn Taymiyyah said since you don’t know how to read:

        “None of the imams said that it is permissible to regard something as obligatory or mustahabb on the basis of a weak hadeeth; whoever says that is going against scholarly consensus.”
