New Feature – Video Summaries on YouTube

As-salaam alaikum.  As a new feature, I am toying with the idea of presenting video summaries of the article on this blog.  As such, the summaries of the first article published on this blog, “The Biblical Story of Lot –An Analysis and Comparison with the Quranic Narrative” have now been published on YouTube:

As can be seen from the videos, they are nothing fancy.  Rather, they are just shortened versions of the article with some basic video effects, and divided into two parts (Part I discusses the Biblical story and Part II discusses the Quranic story).  Admittedly, I am very new to the art of making videos, so if there are any suggestions on how to improve the quality of the videos, please let me know.  Going forward, each published article will have its companion video published on YouTube, inshaAllah.

  1. Biblical “prophecies” are generally taken out of context. If they are “prophecies” at all, they usually fail. I have discussed this issue in past articles:

Oh and next time, do not try to place links to other websites as random “comments” simply to promote them. Going forward, your comments will be deleted as spam if they do not have any relevance to the post.

    Salam Br. Faiz,

Nice to see you are trying out youtube!

You have asked for suggestions so here are a couple:
The background melody of the first video is a better choice than tunes with lyrics (in the second video) only because it seemed more of a distraction. Also, another point of possible improvement could be to center the text in the middle of the video to make reading easier for the eyes. I do like how you have your site's logo…perhaps find a way to adjust the size and reposition it? Perhaps you can vary up the background with images that somehow tie in with the text that is shown throughout the video.
I am sure you will find ways of improving your videos as time goes on 🙂 Maybe at some point you might think of adding a recording of a narrator reading the text!

    Great initiative mashallah!

  3. Walaikum as-salaam sister Maryam!

Thank you for the suggestions. I will take them into account in future videos. I am experimenting with different software and different formats, so hopefully future videos will show improvement. I actually just uploaded a new video as well:

I don't know about a narrator though! It will have to be someone else, because I don't like the sound of my voice…LOL!

This new video is great! It was enjoyable to watch and read.
Most people are pretty self-conscious of their own voice…myself included! But keep the idea open for the future…who knows, maybe you know someone who would be willing to do it 🙂

    JazakAllah for your initiative.
